SUMMARY:POSTPONED - EMDR Child Specialist Intensive Program Level 1 - Phoenix\, AZ
DESCRIPTION:EMDR Child Specialist Level 1 Intensive Program:\n8 hours of online training\n38 hours of intensive \nOverview\nIn this intensive training clinicians will learn advanced skills and practice under the direction of Ana Gomez (or one of the AGATE Institute’s trainers)\, the HOW TOs of EMDR therapy with children. This training will teach in depth case conceptualization using the AIP (Adaptive Information processing) model\, attachment theory\, affective neuroscience\, interpersonal neurobiology and the polyvagal theory. In addition\, preparation strategies and EMDR games that will provide children with a solid foundation to face traumatic material will be thoroughly presented. This level is recommended for clinicians starting to use EMDR with children or clinicians that need the foundational skills. A thorough hands on approach is used\, as Ana Gomez and her team of trainers and facilitators will walk participants through the eight phases of EMDR therapy with children with simple and complex clinical presentations. This advanced training workshop will provide step-by-step strategies that will assist clinicians in following EMDR therapy principles and procedures while meeting the developmental needs of children. Clinicians will learn how to make EMDR therapy successful and effective for children. Participants will be able to develop the skills and strategies that are necessary for case conceptualization and the effective implementation of EMDR therapy with children. Theory and practice will be combined within a small group setting to provide a very tangible experience. \nProgram level: Full EMDR training required. \nObjectives\nThis intensive training will provide a comprehensive body of knowledge and advance techniques so clinicians can effectively implement the eight phases of EMDR therapy with children. \n(1) Clinicians will be able to develop case conceptualization skills and treatment plans based on the Adaptive Information Processing model (AIP)\, attachment theory\, affective neuroscience\, interpersonal neurobiology and the polyvagal theory. \n(2) Clinicians will develop advanced skills in treatment plan development and will have advanced supervised practice in global and phase specific case conceptualization. \n(3) Clinicians will develop basic and advanced skills in preparing children for EMDR trauma processing. This includes resources for stabilization and affect regulation as well as strategies to identify targets using developmentally appropriate float back and mapping strategies. In addition\, playful and fun ways of identifying targets will be covered. \n(4) This training will cover in depth the skill-building model and the use of EMDR games with children to facilitate the use of the eight phases of EMDR therapy. Emphasis will be placed on the importance of making children acquainted with the different components of EMDR therapy prior to moving into the assessment and desensitization phases. Strategies to helping children develop cognitive\, emotional and somatic literacy so they can access the cognitive\, affective\, and somatosensory aspects of the trauma memories will be demonstrated. \n(5) Clinicians will be able to use concrete and playful strategies to engage children during the assessment phase. In addition\, clinicians will learn advanced strategies to set up processing sessions to optimize the child’s integrative capacities. These strategies are especially helpful when working with children with sensitized sympathetic nervous systems and children with sensitized dorsal vagal systems. \n(6) Participants will also learn how and when to use interweaves that are more suitable for children and the Interweave System’s Model (Gomez) as well as a guide and markers for the decision-making process. \n(7) This intensive training will cover playful and play therapy strategies that can be used during the installation\, body scan and reevaluation phases of EMDR therapy. In addition\, how to help children make new choices and incorporate appropriate behaviors in the future through the use of the future template protocol will be addressed. \n(8) Clinicians will have the opportunity to practice in small groups and receive individualized feedback. \nAgenda\n8:30 am to 12:00 pm\n12 pm to 1 pm- Lunch\n1:00 pm to 5:30 pm \nOnline training:\nModule 1: Recordings will be available after registration (3 hours) \nModule 2: Recordings will be available after registration (3 hours) \nModule 3: Recordings will be available after registration (3 hours) \nCE Credits Information- 38 CEUs \nYou can watch the archives on your own time. SUMMARY:ON HOLD - EMDR Adult\, Complex Trauma & Dissociation Specialist Intensive Program - Phoenix\, AZ (USA)
DESCRIPTION:EMDR Adult\, Complex Trauma & Dissociation Specialist Intensive Program\nAn Integrative Progressive Approach to Developmental Trauma: Working with Complex PTSD and Dissociative Disorders\nPresenters: Kathy Steele\, MN\, CS & Dolores Mosquera\, MS\n9 hours of online training\n37 hours of intensive training\nA total of 46 hours \nCost: $1650 USD\nBreakfast and lunches are all included plus training materials and CECs \nOverview\nThis training intensive includes an overview of what makes Complex PTSD and Dissociative Disorders different from PSTD and different from each other. We explore the similarities and differences between ego states and dissociative parts in clinical practice\, with treatment implications. Understanding of both the biological and psychological underpinnings of dissociation will lead to practical clinical interventions. Participants will have an opportunity to learn and practice assessment of complex PTSD and dissociative disorders\, including both overt and nuanced symptom clusters of dissociation. We will practice formulating a treatment plan for structural dissociation for EMDR therapy. A phase-oriented approach that is standard of care for both Complex PTSD and dissociative disorders will guide our treatment approach. Because relationship is the context of the client’s trauma\, we will explore particular relational strategies that support collaboration and curiosity and minimize the intensity of dependency or relational avoidance. Participants will learn and practice specific skills to work with dissociative clients\, including those that promote safety\, reduce dissociative and other symptoms\, and stabilize by reducing inner conflicts among dissociative parts. There will be ample opportunity to practice working with structural dissociation with and without EMDR\, including a sequenced\, step-wise approach to working first with certain parts to promote stabilization\, and ways to include all parts in therapy as much and often as possible. We will practice working with typical types of parts\, including avoidant adult parts\, child parts\, angry parts\, and parts that imitate the perpetrator\, among others. Resistances to integration are a hallmark of dissociative disorders and participants will learn a progressive approach to identifying the most common resistances and helping the client work through them with compassion and curiosity\, using EMDR. Finally\, we will explore specific strategies to titrate traumatic memory processing in dissociative clients\, and how to include all parts in the work with a window of tolerance. We will use video vignettes to illustrate approaches and participants will have ample time to practice skills and present cases. \nParticipants will be able to:\n\nDescribe the criteria for Complex PTSD and Dissociative Disorders.\nIdentify the mental and physical signs and symptoms of structural dissociation.\nDistinguish whether the inability to remember is due to absorption or to dissociative amnesia.\nExplain the biological and psychological origins of dissociation\, with treatment implications.\nFormulate a case of structural dissociation that includes identification of prognostic signs\, level of structural dissociation\, and potential resistances and relational problems.\nOrganize the treatment plan with EMDR Therapy.\nEmploy practical skills for the stabilization phase for clients with developmental trauma\, and skills to stabilize by using specific strategies to work with dissociative parts.\nDescribe a sequenced approach to working with dissociative parts that ensures the client can remain stable and improve integrative functioning across therapy.\nIdentify particular relational strategies that support collaboration and curiosity and that minimize overwhelming dependency or avoidance of connection.\nIdentify common types of parts and how to work with them therapeutically.\nList common phobias and resistances found in clients with developmental trauma and structural dissociation.\nEmploy a progressive approach to working with resistances to progress.\nIdentify specific techniques and procedures to apply EMDR safely with complex trauma and dissociative disorders\, including titration strategies to work with traumatic memories in clients with dissociative disorders\, as well as ways to include dissociative parts in the work.\n\nDay 1. SUMMARY:POSTPONED - EMDR- Sand Therapy Specialist Intensive Program
DESCRIPTION:EMDR-Sand Therapy  Specialist Intensive program:\n9 hours of online training\n40 hours of intensive-retreat training\nA total of 40 CECs (EMDRIA CECs).\nNo credits are given for the 9 hours online. \nCost: Discounted rate: $1800 USD (April 19\, 2020)\nRegular rate: $1900 O USD: Includes training materials\, 9 hours of online training\, 40 hours of intensive training. \nThe nine-hour online training and the intensive 40-hour retreat provide a combination of lecture\, HOW TOs and hands on strategies\, live demonstrations\, role plays\, therapy videos and supervised practice. This training will teach in depth and thoroughly how to use EMDR-Sand Therapy strategies and procedures.  You will receive 9 hours of online training where you will first be guided to create your own sand tray miniature collection. You will learn about the history as well as the difference between EMDR-Sand Therapy and other therapies that use sand. In addition\, clinicians will learn basic principles of ego state theory\, Internal Family Systems as well as the structural dissociation theory. A review of the AIP model and EMDR therapy procedural steps is also provided. Following these 9 hours\, you will attend an intensive-week long training where you can practice and receive feedback directly from Ana Gomez and her team of facilitators. This training covers in great depth the eight phases of EMDR-Sand therapy with children and adolescents which is founded and based on the AIP model and EMDR therapy procedures. This is especially useful for children that present with dysregulation or constriction of the affective system and require greater distance from the traumatic material. In addition\, children that use mechanisms of adaptation and survival such as avoidance\, dissociation\, control and idealization among others\, can highly benefit from using EMDR therapy combined with sand therapy strategies. Moreover\, traumatized children present with trauma related phobias that can be successfully addressed in the sand tray. EMDR-Sand Therapy offers various levels of distance from the traumatic material: the actual memory of trauma where the self is present in the story\, to the general story/world where the self is absent. A wonderful opportunity that Sandtray  therapy offers is the accessing of implicit and right hemisphere material through the use of stories and symbols. It is not necessary to have the formal training in sand therapy or Sandplay therapy. EMDR-Sand Therapy has its own procedures and principles rooted within the AIP model and EMDR therapy procedural steps developed by Dr. Shapiro. A thorough hands on approach is used\, as Ana Gomez will provide individualized support and guidance as you practice in small groups the use of EMDR-Sand Therapy procedures\, strategies and protocols. Once you complete the program\, you will receive a certificate given by the AGATE Institute and you will be in our website as a referral source. \nObjectives:\nClinicians will learn:\n\nCase conceptualization skills to use with children and adolescents with complex clinical presentations that may require greater level of distance from the traumatic material.\nBasic Sand tray therapy procedures such as how to set up the sand tray\, develop miniature collection\, explore the child’s “world” etc.\nTo set the various levels of distance offered by EMDR-Sand Therapy.\nMentalization and reflective function in the use of EMDR-Sand therapy\nHow to use concepts from Interpersonal Neurobiology\, Affective Neuroscience\, Structural Dissociation Theory\, the Polyvagal Theory and more.\nHow to develop resources during preparation phase using the sand tray including:\n\nSafe-calm-happy place\nHelpers\nResource spots\nThe little self-healing place\n\n\nTo set up the assessment phase honoring the various levels of distance.\nTo use the Interweave Systems Model (ISM) within EMDR-Sand Therapy such as:\n\nInterweaves directed to meet attachment needs\nInterweaves directed to complete truncated defense responses\nInterweaves directed to reclaim repressed and dissociated affective states\nInterweaves directed to modulate arousal\n\n\nHow to work with the body while staying connected to the sand tray and the story\nLearn how to work with preverbal trauma\nTo playfully do the installation phase and body scan using EMDR-Sand Therapy.\n\nVideos\, live demonstrations and lots of pictures of therapeutic work will be presented to give workshop attendees a very tangible and concrete experience \nCost:\n\nFull  program EMDR-Sand Therapy -Level 1- $1900 USD (Includes training materials\, 49 hours of training\, and all breakfasts and lunches.\nWe accept payment plans leading up to the training please contact Jim Mason at (602) 803-4601\n\nTime:\n\n9 hours of online training\n40 hours of intensive-retreat training that includes 8 hours of case presentations\nA total of 49 hours of training!\n\nA total of 40 CEUs (EMDRIA CEUs). SUMMARY:POSTPONED - EMDR- Sand Therapy Specialist Intensive Program
DESCRIPTION:EMDR-Sand Therapy  Specialist Intensive program:\n9 hours of online training\n40 hours of intensive-retreat training\nA total of 40 CECs (EMDRIA CECs).\nNo credits are given for the 9 hours online. \nCost $ 1900 USD: Includes training materials\, 9 hours of online training\, 40 hours of intensive training. SUMMARY:ON HOLD - EMDR Therapy with Children Presenting with Complex & Developmental Trauma
DESCRIPTION:Abstract\nThis workshop\, organized by Life and Light: Nikhil Kaistha MS.Ed.\, MA.\, LPCC\, focuses on specific strategies that will assist clinicians in following EMDR therapy principles and procedures while meeting the developmental needs of traumatized children. It also provides theoretical and practical strategies to assist clinicians working with children with dysregulation or constriction of the affective system: Children exhibiting insecure patterns of attachment\, developmental trauma and dissociative symptoms. Strategies to effectively prepare children for EMDR therapy. This includes a wide and rich variety of resources for stabilization and affect regulation. How to use EMDR therapy strategies directed to titrate the amount of trauma and keep children within manageable and tolerable levels of activation to facilitate reprocessing will be demonstrated. Moreover\, “access routes and portals” into the memory networks will be presented along with a wide range of child-friendly interweaves. \nSchedule and objectives\nFirst day\n\nDevelop case conceptualization skills and treatment plans based on the Adaptive Information Processing Model (AIP). [8:30 am to 10:15] am\nBreak [10:15 to 10:30]\nIdentify key factors when establishing the client’s readiness for EMDR therapy trauma processing. [10:30 am to 11:45 am]\nLunch [11:45 am to 1:00 pm]\nEffectively prepare children for EMDR therapy. This includes a wide and rich variety of resources for stabilization and affect regulation. [1:00 pm to 2:30 pm]\nBreak [2:30 to 2:45]\nUse effective strategies with children to prepare the nervous system before reprocessing traumatic material to optimize the child’s integrative capacity. [2:45 to 4:15 pm]\n\nSecond Day\n\nUse “staging” strategies and provide a platform that optimizes the child’s integrative capacities before moving into processing phases of EMDR therapy.
